EPL: Manchester United comes from behind to defeat Nottingham Forest

Manchester United came from two goals down to defeat Nottingham Forest who were forced to play with 10 men following a red card towards the end of the match played today, August 26.

Nottingham Forest took the lead in the match after scoring two goals in four minutes during the first half.

First, Super Eagles star, Taiwo Awoniyi raced through on goal after just 90 seconds with the only defender back inexplicably being Marcus Rashford.

Andre Onana was sat down by Awoniyi as Rashford was shrugged off as the Nigerian scored his seventh consecutive goal in all games played.

There was further chaos when Morgan Gibbs-White delivered a free-kick just two minutes later to find Willy Boly, who nodded in without even needing to move.

There was nearly an open revolt there and then at Old Trafford with boos ringing around the ground, but Christian Eriksen managed to steal one back before half-time after fine work from Rashford.

Casemiro, who missed an open goal soon after Eriksen’s strike, bundled one in after the break from a well-worked free-kick routine.

Joe Worrall was then sent off after VAR intervened and adjudged the defender to have pulled Bruno Fernandes back when he was through on goal.

It meant that Forest were hanging on for dear life with minutes to go at 2-2, but they would only go on to shoot themselves in the foot when Danilo gave away a penalty which Bruno Fernandes converted.

Three games into the season, United are still struggling for form, but have won two of those matches, nevertheless.

Erik ten Hag will hope for better days as #TenHagOut trended across social media on Saturday afternoon.

The Dutchman enjoyed a fine debut season last year after United finished in the top four and won the Carabao Cup.
