EPL: Liverpool closes in on Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister
Liverpool are moving closer to a full agreement to sign Brighton midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister, and are hopeful of completing the deal this week.
The World Cup winner is set to be Jurgen Klopp’s first summer signing with Liverpool finally getting one over Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Mac Allister has been key to Brighton’s remarkable success in 2022-23. His performances for the Seagulls helped them qualify for the Europa League under Roberto De Zerbi. Despite European qualification, the South Coast outfit harboured little hope of keeping the playmaker.
It is understood that Alexis Mac Allister will sign for Liverpool, subject to a medical, after agreeing on a contract which would reportedly run till June 2028.
Popular sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano claims that the fee involved in a major coup for Liverpool will be considerably less than the £60 million ($74m) fee that has been speculated on.
🚨 Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool, here we go! Full agreement completed on the contract — understand it will be valid until June 2028. Five year deal. #LFC
Liverpool will pay the buy out clause in the next days, way less than reported £60m fee.

It’s been also gathered that Mac’s father, Carlos, who acts as his agent, flew into the UK last weekend to finalize the deal, with members of his family suggesting back home in Argentina that it has been concluded.
Other players on Jurgen Klopp’s list include Manu Kone, the 22-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, and Khephren Thuram, who is also 22 and plays for Nice. Both have represented France at junior level and Thuram got his first senior cap this year. Celta’s Gabri Veiga, another rising talent, is also admired by Liverpool’s manager but no talks have taken place for the 21-year-old. They will be looking to get their business done early in time for the start of pre-season on July 8.
