EPL: Leicester City eye Ruud van Nistelrooy as Steve Cooper’s replacement

Leicester City are reportedly considering former Manchester United interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy as a top candidate to replace Steve Cooper.

Cooper was dismissed on Sunday after securing just two wins in 12 Premier League games, leaving the Foxes trailing 16th in the league table.

Van Nistelrooy has gained prominence as a potential hire due to his recent success against Leicester during his stint with United and his aspiration to manage in the English top flight.

His name has also been linked to the vacant Coventry City role, though Frank Lampard is now considered the frontrunner for that position.

Leicester’s current struggles include a four-game winless streak, with Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea sealing Cooper’s fate.

Club owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha is reportedly keen to act quickly to stabilize the team and avoid a relegation battle.

Van Nistelrooy’s potential appointment would see him return to Premier League action, where he could reunite with Manchester United when Leicester hosts them in March.

However, his managerial future remains uncertain, with reports suggesting he is also being considered by Bundesliga 2 side Hamburger SV as a possible replacement for Steffen Baumgart.
