EPL: Kompany’s Burnley maintain relegation spot as Bournemouth clinch 2-0 win at Turf Moor
Burnley suffered another setback at home as they were defeated 2-0 by Bournemouth at Turf Moor, on Sunday afternoon.
Despite starting promisingly with quick passing and majority possession, Burnley lacked a cutting edge, which Bournemouth capitalized on.
Justin Kluivert opened the scoring for Bournemouth after taking advantage of a poor defending from Burnley, skipping past Dara O’Shea to score.
Antoine Semenyo sealed the win for Bournemouth with a deflected effort late in the second half.
Despite enjoying 75% possession and having a higher expected goals, Burnley couldn’t convert their chances into goals.
The defeat marks Burnley’s 11th home loss of the season, a record for the club in a single Premier League campaign, raising concerns for their upcoming match against West Ham and the rest of the season.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, will be pleased with their good performance and will look to build on the victory as they prepare to host bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United in their next match.
