EPL: Fulham stun Chelsea with late win that ends their 45-year Stamford Bridge curse

Fulham secured a historic win at Stamford Bridge with Rodrigo Muniz’s dramatic injury-time winner, defeating Chelsea 2-1 and ending a 45-year drought at the ground.

Chelsea appeared to be on course for three points after Cole Palmer’s brilliant first-half goal.

The goal marked his 26th Premier League strike of 2024, a club record for goals in a calendar year.

The former Manchester City forward’s finish through Issa Diop’s legs past Bernd Leno had given the Blues the edge in a dominant opening period.

Fulham, however, grew into the game after the break. Harry Wilson, a second-half substitute, ended Fulham’s 13-year goal drought at Stamford Bridge in the 86th minute, heading home Timothy Castagne’s assist at the back post.

The Cottagers completed their comeback deep into stoppage time.

A quick counter-attack saw Sasa Lukic deliver a perfect cross for Muniz, who buried his header past Robert Sanchez to secure Fulham’s first win at Stamford Bridge since 1979.

Chelsea’s wastefulness in front of goal and defensive lapses proved costly.

Despite numerous first-half chances and Leno’s heroics in the Fulham goal, the Blues failed to capitalize.

Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez came close, but their efforts were denied, while Levi Colwill’s disallowed goal for offside summed up Chelsea’s frustrations.
