EPL: Bukayo Saka set to be fit for Man City clash
Arsenal star forward Bukayo Saka is set to be fit for their upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester City this Sunday.
Saka recently suffered a muscle injury during Arsenal’s 2-1 Champions League defeat to Lens, raising concerns about his availability for the much anticipated City game.
However, talkSPORT has alleged that the 22-year-old is now expected to be included in the squad for the match against the reigning treble winners at the Etihad Stadium.
In addition to Saka’s potential return, Arsenal could also receive a further boost with Gabriel Martinelli making his way back into the lineup.
Martinelli has been on the sideline since the Gunners’ 1-0 victory over Everton on September 17.
Recall that the Gunner’s manager Mikel Arteta had on Saturday said Saka was in contention for the City game. “He is in contention, we’ll see how he progresses from here to Sunday.
“Obviously, he had to leave the pitch [against RC Lens], that’s never good news, but let’s see how he recovers.”
Despite injury concerns, Saka has also been named in the England squad for upcoming matches against Australia and Italy.
There have been further concerns about the workload placed on Saka, who has featured in Arsenal’s last 87 Premier League games, setting a club-record streak. Last season, he played a total of 48 games across all competitions for the Gunners.
