EPL: Bournemouth signs Justin Kluivert from AS Roma
English club, Bournemouth has confirmed the signing of Dutch winger Justin Kluivert from Serie A club, AS Roma.
The 24-year-old Dutch winger has signed a five-year deal with Bournemouth who have paid £9.5m plus £850k in add-ons. The transfer is set to make Justin Kluivert the first Dutchman ever to play in each of the top five European leagues.
Kluivert spent last season on loan at Valencia in La Liga from AS Roma. The former Ajax winger featured 29 times in all competitions for the Spanish side, scoring eight goals and providing two assists. During the 21/22 season, he was on loan in Ligue 1 for OGC Nice. During the 20/21 campaign, he was loaned to RB Leipzig, where he scored three goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances. Now, he’s officially a Premier League player.
Justin Kluivert is a speedy and skilful winger with plenty of potentials. He predominantly plays as a left winger, but in the past, he’s played on the right wing and also as an attacking midfielder. He’s certainly a player to keep an eye on in the Premier League next season.
Sharing his excitement over the Dutch footballer’s arrival, Bournemouth’s Chief executive Neill Blake said;
“We are delighted to have made Justin our first signing ahead of the new season.
“He was coveted by a number of clubs across Europe and his arrival is a sign of his ambition, which is matched by ours.
“Justin is an exciting and versatile attacking player who has an eye for goal. He is pacey, direct and boasts a high level of technical ability. Although he only recently turned 24, Justin has a wealth of experience and has played domestically at the highest level in five different countries”
Justin is following the footsteps of his father, Patrick Kluivert, who briefly played in the Premier League for Newcastle United in the 2004-05 campaign.
Bournemouth kick off the 2023-24 season with a home game against Europa Conference League winners West Ham United on August 12.
