EPL: Arsenal thrash Man City 5-1 to close gap on Liverpool

Arsenal delivered a statement performance with a dominant 5-1 victory over Manchester City at the Emirates, cutting Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League to six points.

The Gunners took the lead just three minutes in through Martin Ødegaard, setting the tone for a fiery encounter that saw Gabriel and Erling Haaland reignite their on-field rivalry.

City responded early in the second half when Haaland found space ahead of William Saliba to head home the equalizer.

However, Arsenal struck back immediately as Thomas Partey’s deflected shot off John Stones restored their lead within 38 seconds.

Myles Lewis-Skelly made it 3-1 with a stunning effort, celebrating in front of Haaland with the Norwegian’s signature pose.

Kai Havertz, who had missed a golden chance in the first half, made amends in the 76th minute by sealing Arsenal’s emphatic victory.

The result sees City stumble in their title defense while also opening the door for Chelsea to push into the top four.

Arsenal, meanwhile, keep their Premier League hopes alive with a ruthless display against the reigning champions.
