EPL: Arsenal lead title race as Liverpool, Man City share points at Anfield
Liverpool and Manchester City battled to a 1-1 draw, giving Arsenal the upper hand in the Premier League title race on Sunday.
Despite both teams having several chances, the match at Anfield ended with each side securing a point, leaving the title race wide open.
Manchester City dominated possession early in the game, creating early chances, with Julian Alvarez and Kevin De Bruyne testing Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher.
However, Liverpool gradually found their foot back, and began to threaten City’s defense, with Conor Bradley and Luis Diaz coming close to scoring.
City broke the deadlock with a set-piece goal, as John Stones slotted home from a corner delivered by De Bruyne.
Meanwhile, Liverpool came back strong in the second half, capitalizing on a defensive error by City.
Nathan Ake’s weak back-pass was intercepted by Darwin Nunez, who was brought down by Ederson in the box.
Alexis Mac Allister converted the resulting penalty, leveling the score and bringing the clash to a 1-1 draw.
