#EndSARS: Arsenal player, Mesut Ozil, lends an international voice against Police brutality in Nigeria
German footballer and Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil has lent his voice against police brutality in Nigeria which gained momentum lately.
Recall that Nigerians especially youths recently took to streets asking for the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad – SARS unit of the Nigeria Police.
The above gave rise to the now popular #EndSARS campaign which has gained international attention as more foreign celebrities have now joined the campaign online.
Reacting to the news of Nigerians demanding that SARS be scrapped, the German midfielder said it was horrible to hear what’s been going on in Nigeria and he asked that #EndSARS should be made a trending topic.
Ozil tweeted… “Horrible to hear what’s been going on in Nigeria. Let’s make this a trending topic everywhere – #EndSARS – My thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected.”
