EFCC operatives caught on camera allegedly breaking into houses in Benue
Some operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were caught on camera allegedly breaking into homes in Makurdi, Benue State.
According to journalist, Pidom Nigeria who brought the incident to light on Twitter, the occupants of the house were not at home when men of the anti-graft agency invaded.
The journalist wrote:
“EFCC @officialEFCC operatives caught on camera breaking into people’s homes in makurdi, Benue State.
The lawlessness of EFCC is now taking another dimension.
“The most annoying thing about these breaking is that, Some of the occupants are not even at home, but EFCC @officialEFCC broke into their houses like thieves. Even if you are not at home, EFCC operatives can just invade your house, pull down your doors, and break in without a warrant or court order.
Nigeria is finished”.

There has been a growing trend of the EFCC conducting unprofessional home invasions without court orders or search warrants, leading to complaints among Nigerians.
Reacting to the complaints, the EFCC said it is legal for its operatives to break into any house if suspects resist arrest.
According to section 12(2) of the act, law enforcement officers have the right to enter any house forcefully as long as the suspect is confirmed to be there.
