EFCC, DSS to spend N2bn on fuel for vehicles

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) are set to spend a combined total of ₦2 billion on fueling their operational vehicles in 2025, according to the proposed appropriation bill.

According to Punch Online, on December 18, President Bola Tinubu presented a ₦47.90 trillion budget to the National Assembly, titled the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity.”

The budget allocates ₦4.91 trillion to defence and security, underscoring the administration’s resolve to address the nation’s security challenges.

A closer examination of the proposed budget reveals that the EFCC has earmarked ₦808.7 million for fueling its vehicles, alongside ₦462 million for refreshments and meals in the coming year.

Similarly, the DSS plans to spend ₦1.37 billion on vehicle fueling and an additional ₦1.4 million on tactical counter-terrorism equipment.

The budget also includes ₦1.4 billion for the procurement of arms and ammunition, as well as ₦1.1 billion for advanced cybersecurity tools.

In a broader context, the DSS, along with other agencies under the Office of the National Security Adviser, has allocated ₦960 billion in 2025 for maintaining national defence aircraft and procuring security equipment across multiple sectors. These allocations further reflect the administration’s prioritization of strengthening national security.
