#EdoDecides2024: EFCC apprehend suspected vote buyers
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken some individuals into custody in connection with alleged vote-buying activities during the current Edo State gubernatorial election.
It was gathered that the EFCC made the arrests in the Egor Local Government Area of the state around 10:00 am.

EFCC officials nabbed the three individuals – two men and one woman – suspected of engaging in vote-buying activities.
However, some residents in the area have protested, claiming that the suspects are being unfairly targeted.
Today’s election in Edo State has three main candidates as the front-runners. Representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is Asue Ighodalo.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is fielding Senator Monday Okpebholo, while the Labour Party (LP) candidate is Olumide Akpata.
There are a total of 17 candidates vying for the governorship position, but the race is largely between the PDP, APC, and Labour Party candidates.
In related news, there was an electoral setback in Ward 8, unit 1, Orhionmwon, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, during the Edo State gubernatorial race.
An online video purporting to show voters in the aforementioned district protesting over the lack of election result sheets has left them visibly agitated.
However, the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were unable to provide the sheets, stating that they were on their way.
