#EdoDecides2024: Davido reacts to police order to voters
Award-winning Nigerian musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has reacted to a police message directed at Edo voters.
According to an earlier report by GistReel, more than 2.6 million eligible voters across the 18 LGAs in Edo were expected to show up today to cast their ballots and carry out their civic duties.
The police reportedly told voters in the present Edo State gubernatorial election to head home right away after casting their ballots.
Frank Mba, the deputy inspector general of police in charge of election security, issued the warning.
Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Saturday morning, Mba urged Edo residents to fulfill their civic duty by voting and then returning home immediately.
He also announced a restriction on vehicular movement in the state from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day.
Mba stated, “If you’re not accredited to participate in the election, you shouldn’t be on the streets. Cast your vote and return home; it’s your civic duty.”
However, Davido, who is aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed disagreement with the directive.
Reacting to the video via his X account, Davido wrote, “Lol, go where.”
