#EdoDecides2024: APC’s Okpebholo takes the lead as INEC announces results from 16 LGAs
Senator Monday Okpebholo, a candidate for governor of Edo State from the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently leading the election.
Keep in mind that the Edo State gubernatorial election took place on Saturday throughout the entire state and Gistreel has been following the outcome closely to give you the accurate results.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday announced the results from 16 LGAs.
According to the results announced so far, Okpebholo secured 244,549 votes, while Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, garnered 195,954 votes.
Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, LP, got a total of 13,348 votes.
Meanwhile, the electoral umpire has announced a 3-hour br to await results from the final two local governments.
Collation is set to resume at 5 p.m.
In other news, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unexpectedly and controversially released its own version of the results.
PDP governors, including Adamawa’s Ahmadu Fintiri, took to the podium during a press conference on Sunday to present what they claimed to be the official results from various polling places and local governments.
