Ederson major doubt for Manchester City’s clash against Arsenal
Manchester City could be without goalkeeper Ederson for their crucial Premier League match against Arsenal.
The Brazilian is reportedly a “major doubt” due to a thigh injury sustained during the 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
Ederson collided with Darwin Nunez, conceding a penalty before being substituted for Stefan Ortega.
According to reports by Daily Mail, Ederson is facing three to four weeks on the sidelines, potentially ruling him out of the Arsenal clash on March 31.
Since joining City in 2017, Ederson has been instrumental in their success, winning five Premier League titles.
On the other hand, Ortega, who signed in 2022, is expected to step in during Ederson’s absence, having made 24 appearances for City, mostly in cup competitions.
Ortega’s only Premier League start this season came in a 2-1 win over Brighton in October.
Despite this, City will look to him to maintain their title challenge as they aim for a record fourth consecutive title.
Their upcoming FA Cup quarter-final against Newcastle precedes the Arsenal clash, making it a crucial period for the team.
