DisCos begin load recovery after National grid collapse

Power Distribution Companies have commenced load recovery after the national grid experienced its third collapse this week.

According to reports, as of 2:30 p.m., DisCo load had risen to 450 megawatts (MW), with the National Grid aiming to reach a target of 4,800 MW.

Abuja DisCo – 80 MW

Benin DisCo – 70 MW

Eko DisCo – 70 MW

Enugu DisCo- 0 MW

Ibadan DisCo – 100 MW

Ikeja DisCo – 130 MW

Jos DisCo- 0 MW

Kaduna DisCo- 0 MW

Kano DisCo- 0 MW

PHarcourt DisCo- 0 MW

Yola DisCo- 0 MW

Total: 450 MW

The grid collapsed for the third time early Saturday morning, with many states reporting total blackouts.

Data obtained from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org), revealed that the grid recorded an unprecedented zero Megawatts (MW) as of 8:16 am today.

The national grid, on its verified social media account, X (formerly Twitter) confirmed that seven of the nation’s eleven electricity distribution companies had zero load allocation.

However, the spokesperson for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Ndidi Mbah later reacted, saying that power had been restored.
