Diallo forgot about first yellow after his celebration was cut short against Liverpool
Amad Diallo has admitted he forgot about his first yellow card after he was sent off for removing his jersey celebrating a late winner against Liverpool.
The young star’s moment was cut short after scoring the winning goal for Manchester United against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Diallo’s dramatic goal sealed a 4-3 win for United in the final moments of extra time.
The 21-year-old’s joy turned to disappointment as he was shown a second yellow card for removing his shirt in celebration, having been booked earlier in the game.
In an interview after the game, Diallo expressed his disappointment at the red card, stating he forgot about his initial booking.
“I forgot the first yellow, so I am very disappointed for that red card.
“But the most important thing for me is to win, and to do it against a big team like Liverpool is a dream… a big, big moment for me,” he added.
With Diallo’s goal, Manchester United have now been pitched to face Championship side Coventry, in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, scheduled for April 20.
