Detroit rapper sues ride-hailing company after driver declined ride request due to passenger’s size
A Detroit rapper, Dank Demoss has filed a lawsuit against Lyft after a driver declined her ride request due to her body size.
According to Dank Demoss, the driver claimed she couldn’t fit in the car due to her size.
The incident happened earlier this month when Dank Demoss ordered a rider to the Detroit Lions watch party.
However, after the driver arrived, he reportedly told her she would not fit in his sedan, “Believe me, you can’t” he reportedly said.
Dank Demoss added that the driver mentioned that her tires could not handle her weight and asked her to order Uber XL.
“I’ve been in cars smaller than that,” Blanding told FOX 2. “I just want them to know that it hurt my feelings.”
Her attorneys, Jonathan Marko and Zach Runyan have filed a lawsuit against Lyft for discrimination.
Lyft responded to the allegations in a statement, saying, “Lyft unequivocally condemns all forms of discrimination—we believe in a community where everyone is treated with equal respect and mutual kindness. Our community guidelines and terms of service explicitly prohibit hara§§ment or discrimination.”
