Deontay Wilder loses to Joseph Parker in major upset, casts doubt on Joshua matchup

Joseph Parker pulled off a stunning victory against Deontay Wilder during the two cards fight in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.

The win shakes up the heavyweight division, casting doubt on the highly anticipated clash between Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

Meanwhile, Joshua delivered an impressive performance against Otto Wallin on the same card night, forcing Wallin’s corner to end the fight after the fifth round.

Parker, former heavyweight world champion, showed strength and skills throughout the fight, dominating Wilder and securing a unanimous decision victory with scores of 118-111, 118-110, 120-108.

The fight started with both boxers wary of each other’s power. However, as the bout progressed, Parker began to establish himself, landing a few significant punches and building a lead on the judges’ scorecards.

Despite Wilder’s attempts to rally in the later rounds, Parker maintained his composure and continued to control the fight, sealing a well-deserved win.

In his post-fight interview, Wilder acknowledged his opponent’s performance, saying, “Joseph did a great job. No excuses tonight, a good fight, and we move on to the next thing.”

He also addressed the speculation surrounding a potential fight with Joshua, admitting that it might have been a distraction.

However, Wilder remained optimistic about his future, “I’m a warrior, I’ll be back soon. If not, then I appreciate the love and support everyone has given me over the years.

“Life is about falling and getting back up, you must get back up,” he added.
