Dele-Bashiru nears full recovery ahead of Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifiers

Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is on course to make a timely return from injury as Nigeria gears up for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Eric Chelle’s men will face Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this March.
The 24-year-old, currently on loan at Lazio from Turkish side Hatayspor, suffered an ankle injury on February 22 during a goalless draw against Venezia.
Initially ruled out for 15 days, Dele-Bashiru has been making steady progress and could be fit for selection.
According to reports from Italy, the Manchester City academy graduate participated in rondo drills and individual fitness exercises on Tuesday, signaling an imminent return.
While he is unlikely to feature in Lazio’s upcoming trip to Plzeň, he may be available against Udinese.
His return would be a significant boost for Nigeria, with the Super Eagles needing positive results in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Since earning his first cap in October 2023, Dele-Bashiru has made six appearances for Nigeria, scoring twice, against South Africa and Libya.
