De Bruyne blasts reporter for question after Belgium’s Euro 2024 exit

Kevin De Bruyne didn’t hold back words expressing his frustration with a reporter following Belgium’s exit from Euro 2024 on Monday.

The Red Devils were eliminated in the last 16 after a 1-0 loss to France, with Jan Vertonghen’s late own goal sealing their fate.

During the post-match interview, a reporter asked De Bruyne if it was difficult that Belgium’s “Golden Generation” failed to reach a final.

The question didn’t go down well with the Belgium captain, as he was visibly irritated.

“What is the Golden Generation?” De Bruyne responded.

When the reporter clarified it referred to Belgium’s team, De Bruyne retorted, “And you say that France and England and Spain and Germany is not a Golden Generation? Okay, thank you.”

De Bruyne then walked out, saying “Stupid” in disbelief.

Belgium, despite being one of the top football nations in recent years and holding the No. 1 spot in the FIFA rankings at some point, have yet to secure a major tournament victory.

Their recent performances have seen them fall short, including failing to advance past the group stage at the 2022 World Cup and being knocked out in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 by Italy.
