Daughter pranks mother with marriage offer from man abroad, she says to accept and dump him later

A Nigerian daughter pranked her mother by telling her that a man living abroad, who is planning to return to Nigeria, wants her hand in marriage.

However, the mother’s unexpected response left many surprised—she advised her daughter to accept the proposal, travel abroad, and leave the man if she no longer loves him.

The conversation, captured in a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), has sparked reactions online.

In the footage, the daughter is heard explaining the situation to her mother, saying:

He said he’s coming to Nigeria at the end of this month, so I asked him why. He told me he’s coming for marriage preparations. I asked him, ‘What marriage?’ I told him I’m not ready, but he said he doesn’t care. So, I thought I should tell you.”

In response, the mother, clearly unimpressed, replied:

I’ll slap you! You’re not ready? Tell him you’re ready!”

The daughter then pressed further:

Do you even know what he’s doing abroad?”

To this, the mother retorted:

What is he doing abroad that you can’t do? Is he stealing? Once you get there, you can change him or go your way. Do you want to remain in one place?”

The video has since generated widespread reactions, with many social media users flooding the comment section to share their thoughts.

@blazingmitch: “Imagine mothers supporting divorce, marry him and divorce him if u don’t like him just imagine, gone are the days when mothers would insult u for going with a rich guy whose source of income isn’t known but nowadays a far money Dey follow am.”

@Bobolaweb3: “When it’s time for me to marry, i shall not marry into a wrong home like this. And I pray I see through any pretense they might be indulging in before taking crucial steps. Though prank, the mother meant her words, no mincing or anything, it’s straight from her reasoning.”

@accurateoficial: “Before your choose your wife choose her mother ✍️✍️…. Funny enough na so some people “best mother in the whole world” be ooo😂. I can’t even stand seeing my mother give my sisters such advise I go just caution am straight up.”
