Dapo Abiodun Early Life
Abiodun was born into the Iperu royal lineage on May 29, 1960, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
He was born in Iperu Remo, Ogun East senatorial district, to Dr Emmanuel Abiodun and Mrs Victoria Abiodun.
Abiodun’s educational background is unknown.
In the run-up to the 2019 general elections, he was embroiled in a certificate controversy, claiming to have received a degree from Obafemi Awolowo University on the 2015 senatorial election form for Ogun East but only a secondary school diploma on the 2019 governorship form.
He claimed to have attended college despite never getting a diploma.
Career
He is the managing director and chief executive officer of Heyden Petroleum Ltd., a Nigerian oil and gas business.
According to reports, he also formed First Power Limited.
Dapo Abiodun has been the governor of Ogun State since he was elected on the All Progressive Congress ticket in the 2019 general elections.
Dapo Abiodun was the chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission’s board of directors. He previously formed First Power Limited and was the managing director of Heyden Petroleum.

In the 2015 Nigerian general elections, he ran for the All Progressives Congress (APC) senate seat in Ogun East but was defeated by the PDP candidate.
In 1998, he was elected to the Nigerian Senate on the platform of the now-defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP).
He has served on several presidential committees and groups.
In 2019, he campaigned for and won Ogun State’s governorship on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
