Cristiano Ronaldo stuns Man United legend with goal-scoring form, despite hitting 40 years
At 40, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to defy age and expectations, leaving former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham in shock.
Despite most players retiring by this stage, Ronaldo remains a dominant force in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr while also extending his international career beyond 200 caps for Portugal.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has hinted at pushing towards the 1,000-goal mark and shows no signs of slowing down.
Sheringham, who himself played Premier League football into his 40s, is impressed by Ronaldo’s dedication and physical condition.
Speaking to finaria.it, he said:
“He’s a physical specimen. He’s getting the most out of his body because he’s looked into what can prolong his career.
“He’s phenomenal. He’s pushing boundaries. I don’t know how he’s scoring goals.”
Addressing skepticism over the quality of the Saudi Pro League, Sheringham emphasized that Ronaldo is still competing against professionals:
“It’s not easy to play past 35, 37. It gets harder on your body. If he says he’s the best, he’s the best,” he added.
