COVID-19: Governor of Sokoto State, Tambuwal orders closure of inter-state routes
As cases of Coronavirus continues to increase, Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has ordered the closure of all inter-state routes into the state.
The closure is to take effect from midnight on Friday, 27th March 2020 as part of efforts to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
So far, Nigeria has recorded 65 cases of COVID-19 as well as one death.
Tambuwal in a broadcast on Thursday said the closure will last for two weeks.
The governor advised Nigerians to obey relevant authorities and adhere to measures to curtail the spread of the deadly virus.
“Similarly, all state civil servants on GL 12 and below are to work from their homes for an initial two weeks from Friday, March 27, 2020, to Friday, April 10, 2020.
“Further measures to be taken by the State will be predicated on expert advice from the State Ministry of Health, Nigerian Center for Disease Control and Federal Ministry of Health as and when the need arises.
“Although the state has not recorded any case of this disease, the state government constituted a task force team of experts.”
