Coronavirus: American citizens in Nigeria told to pay for their flight evacuation
The US Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria have said that the American citizens who have decided to return back to the US will sign a promissory note to pay for the full cost of the seat(s) on the flight.
In a statement on Twitter, the U.S. Mission Nigeria @USEmbassyAbuja wrote: “Please note that all individuals who choose to return to the U.S. on a flight organized by the U.S. Department of State will be required to sign a promissory note to pay for the full cost of the seat(s) on the flight. ”

This comes after a notice titled ‘Health Alert: US Mission in Nigeria’ alerted American citizens in Nigeria to be in Abuja and Lagos “as soon as possible” to join arranged flights back to the US because of the coronavirus crisis.
