Argentina have sealed their spot for the 2024 Copa America quarterfinal with a dramatic late win over Chile.
Lautaro Martínez’s late goal secured Argentina’s place in the last-eight of the tournament.
The crucial goal came in the 88th minute after Lionel Messi’s corner led to a shot by Nicolás González, which was blocked by goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
Martínez pounced on the rebound, scoring his second goal of the tournament.
The goal, Martínez’s 26th for Argentina, was confirmed after a three-minute of VAR review.
Meanwhile, Argentina dominated the match with 21 shots to Chile’s three and had 11 corner kicks compared to none for Chile.
Messi nearly scored earlier with a 30-yard shot that hit the post in the 36th minute.
Argentina leads Group A with six points, followed by Canada with three, and Chile and Peru with one each.
Argentina will conclude the group stage against Peru in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Saturday, while Canada faces Chile in Orlando.
