Confusion as Chiefs order Sanusi to leave Kano Emir’s Palace

Reports say that the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has been asked to leave the palace immediately by the Forum of Chiefs in Nigeria.

The forum of chiefs reportedly declared that Sanusi needed to leave the palace of the Emir to maintain peace and stability in Kano State.

Chief Ameh Adaji, the Forum’s president, and Chief Danladi Etsu, its secretary general, announced this on Wednesday, May 29.

According to the forum, it is improper and unlawful to hold a royal seat without the consent of the people.

They warned Sanusi not to do anything that would cause trouble, violence, or humiliation because the last thing they would do was for security personnel to forcibly evict them.

“The Forum of Chiefs in Nigeria, the umbrella body of lower-grade traditional rulers in the country, has urged Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to vacate the palace with immediate effect as ordered by the Federal High Court.”

The forum asked Sanusi to vacate the palace and follow the law of the land, setting an example for others to follow.

They claimed that by slyly returning to the palace through the back entrance, Sanusi had made the Kano emirship a laughing stock among the committee of emirates.
