Confirmed: Alisson out for six weeks with hamstring injury
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been ruled out for up to six weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury.
The Reds No. 1 picked up the injury during the club’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Brazilian international was substituted in the 79th minute and replaced by third-choice goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros.
Liverpool’s medical team has confirmed that Alisson will miss several key fixtures, including Premier League clashes against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Brighton.
He is also expected to miss out on Champions League ties against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.
Manager Arne Slot acknowledged the impact of Alisson’s absence, describing it as a “blow” to the team.
“Alisson is the best goalkeeper in the world so it’s a blow when he gets injured for himself and the team,” Slot said after the match.
With Alisson sidelined, Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher is set to take over as Liverpool’s No. 1.
Kelleher, who impressed in previous appearances, missed the Palace game due to illness but is expected to return after the international break.
