“Churches testing brides for pregnancy is barbaric, intrusive, and sexist” — Feminist fumes
Popular Nigerian feminist, Ozzy Etomi, condemns the practice of some churches known for abolishing wedding arrangements for couples that get pregnant before their marriage.
This came after a Twitter user took to the platform to lament the tight situation a friend of hers is after finding out about her pregnancy before their wedding.
In a post, the lady wrote, “My friend who’s supposed to get married next month, just found out she’s pregnant. She’s thinking of an abortion because if the church finds out, they won’t wed her. They are both confused (the groom is a youth leader in church).”
Reacting to the church tradition, Ozzy Etomi revealed that the practice is utterly pointless and a intrusive in its entirety.
“Churches testing brides for pregnancy is not only barbaric and extremely foolish, its pointless. Couples who are sexually active can be wed, a man with 5 women pregnant outside can be wed, a woman who aborts the baby & passes the test can be wed. Its intrusive and sexist,” she wrote in a tweet.
