Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez targeted by Inter Milan, Barcelona amid Chelsea uncertainty
Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, signed for a British record £107 million in 2023, is reportedly attracting interest from European heavyweights Inter Milan and Barcelona.
The midfielder has lost his starting spot under manager Enzo Maresca.
The Argentine midfielder, who was left out of the lineup in Chelsea’s recent match against Manchester United, saw Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia favoured instead due to their physical presence.
The situation has sparked speculation over Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge.
However, SunSport claims that sources close to the player indicate his determination to reclaim his place but reluctance to accept a prolonged bench role.
Maresca has also shown understanding for Fernandez’s struggles to meet the high expectations tied to his price tag.
Speaking on the decision to bench Fernandez, Maresca commented, “The only reason he is not playing is just because the physicality I prefer is from Caicedo and Lavia.”
