Chelsea set to make first formal bid for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen – report
Chelsea are reportedly preparing their first official offer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to Football Italia.
Osimhen has been on the market throughout the summer despite his key role in Napoli’s recent title success.
The Nigerian forward, who helped Napoli secure their first Serie A title in over 30 years and finished as the league’s top scorer, has found himself out of Antonio Conte’s immediate plans at the Stadio Maradona.
Napoli, who inserted a hefty €130 million release clause into Osimhen’s contract during last year’s renegotiation, have struggled to find a buyer willing to meet their valuation.
Despite initial interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), no formal offer has been made by the French giants.
Osimhen has also shown reluctance for Napoli to accept a €70 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that while PSG remain interested, Chelsea are eager to beat them to the punch.
While the exact amount of Chelsea’s impending bid is yet to be disclosed, the Blues are also weighing options to bring in Brentford forward Ivan Toney.
