Chelsea reject Samu Omorodion joins Porto on five-year deal

Nigeria-Spanish U21 international Samu Omorodion has signed a five-year contract with FC Porto after a brief stint at Atlético Madrid.

The 20-year-old striker, who was once on the verge of joining Chelsea, found his future uncertain after returning from a loan at Deportivo Alavés.

However, his path became clear early Saturday when Atlético and Porto confirmed his transfer.

Porto acquired Omorodion for an initial €15 million, securing 50% of his rights.

The deal believed to be modest for the player’s profile, is strategically structured to benefit Atlético in the long run.

Atlético Madrid retained a significant 50% sell-on clause, which could yield substantial returns if Omorodion’s value increases during his time in Portugal.

The Spanish club also included options for Porto to purchase an additional 30% of the player’s rights over the next two years, potentially pushing the total deal value to €25 million.

Porto, meanwhile, benefits immediately from the striker’s talent, hoping to develop him into a key player.

If Omorodion excels and attracts Premier League interest, Atlético could receive a significant portion of any future transfer fee, securing their investment.
