Chelsea re-enter race for Nico Williams after failed Olise deal

Chelsea have re-entered the race to sign Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams following their failed attempt to sign Michael Olise.

The Blues are now focusing heavily on Williams, who has continued to impress at both club and country, with fine form during Spain’s Euro 2024 match against Italy.

Chelsea’s initial target was Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. However, club and player struggled with salary structure.

Olise has since opted to join Bayern Munich, leaving Chelsea to explore other options.

According to football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the club are determined to bolster their attacking options and see Williams as a suitable candidate to elevate their squad.

Williams, born in 2002, has been a standout performer for Athletic Bilbao.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to meet the €55 million release clause set by the Spanish club to bring the talented forward to Stamford Bridge.

Recall the West London club had initially moved for the winger in the last transfer window but couldn’t get the deal done.
