Chelsea, Newcastle pen tributes to Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu
Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Newcastle United paid their respects to the Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu, following the report of his death.
Atsu was found dead in the rubble of his home in Turkey following an earthquake that occurred nearly two weeks ago. According to his Turkish manager, Murat Uzunmehmet, Atsu’s body was discovered in the southern Turkish province of Hatay.
Newcastle reacted to the news by praising Christian Atsu as a talented and exceptional individual, while Chelsea offered their condolences to the late winger’s family and friends.
Newcastle wrote in a tweet, “We are profoundly saddened to learn that Christian Atsu has tragically lost his life in Turkey’s devastating earthquakes.
“A talented player and a special person, he will always be fondly remembered by our players, staff and supporters. Rest in peace, Christian.”
