Chelsea have officially requested permission to enter talks with Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca for their vacant managerial position.
The 44-year-old Italian has become the leading candidate to succeed Mauricio Pochettino.
Maresca successfully guiding Leicester City back to the Premier League as Championship title winners.
He joined Leicester from Manchester City’s coaching staff last summer and quickly made an impact.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea’s interest has reached advanced stages, with discussions between Maresca and the club progressing.
“Chelsea are advancing in talks to appoint Enzo Maresca as new head coach.
“Positive talks over the weekend, he’s 100% keen and excited by #CFC project.
“No issues on Maresca’s contract already being discussed — talks to follow with Leicester City over €10m compensation fee,” the football transfer expert reported.
