Championship: Ndidi steals in as Leicester edge West Brom to reclaim top spot
Wilfred Ndidi was on target during Leicester City’s 2-1 win over West Brom on Saturday’s Championship clash.
The Nigerian sensation scored the opener at the King Power Stadium in the 22nd minute, giving his team that have been struggling in the encounter the needed boost.
Wout Faes deliverd an inswinger which Jamie Vardy glances on towards goal, which was kept out by West Brom’s goalie Alex Palmer.
However, Ndidi was there to pick up the pieces from two yards out on the rebound.
Shortly before halftime, Vardy hard a golden opportunity from the penalty spot to further the Foxes lead, but hits the woodwork.
However, the 37-year-old entered the second half with a redemption spirit, and succeeded in the 65th minute, bringing the score to 2-0.
The visitors also pulled one back, to console themselves after several missed opportunities.
Meanwhile, Vardy was clearly on cloud nine after scoring what went on to be the winning goal to seal the Foxes’ return to the top of the Championship table.
Leicester remain favourites to qualify for the Premier League, with 91 points, two points clear of second place Ipswich, while West Brom sit in fifth, seven points clear of dropping out of the play-off places.
