Camp Nou renovations: Barcelona announce €1b project to be partially opened year end

Spanish giants Barcelona have announced that Camp Nou renovations has gulped 32% of its total budget.

In a press conference on Wednesday, the club’s Institutional Vice-President Elena Fort and Operations Manager Joan Sentelles provided updates on the renovations.

The revamped stadium, which is expected to hold 104,000 fans, has so far consumed €342 million of its €1.071 billion budget.

Originally slated to be inaugurated on November 29, 2023, for the club’s 125th anniversary, the new timeline now projects an end-of-year opening to accommodate 64,000 fans upon the completion of the first and second tiers.

According to Football Espana, due to UEFA regulations, next season’s Champions League matches will continue at Montjuic until the knockout rounds.

Sentelles revealed that the complete renovation, expected to conclude in 2026, will elevate the stadium’s annual income to €374 million.

This includes a minimum projection of €272 million, a significant increase from the current income just under €100 million per year.

Additionally, a ‘sky deck’ planned for installation over the stadium is anticipated to generate €2.5 million annually.

While no 360-degree big screen will be added, as seen at the Santiago Bernabeu, the current big screens will be enhanced.
