Buhari’s ex-aide tackles Peter Obi for deleting tweet where he addressed Tinubu as “Mr President”
Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to Muhammadu Buhari, has tackled the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi for deleting a tweet where he addressed Bola Tinubu as Mr President.
Peter Obi who reacted to the trending videos on social media space showing President Bola Tinubu’s long convoy in Lagos, stated that leaders who ask followers to sacrifice for a better Nigeria must also lead by example.
Obi made this statement on Thursday at St Faith Cathedral, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Awka, during the burial Mass of the late Dean Emeritus of the Church of Nigeria, the Most Reverend Maxwell Anikwenwa, who died at 83.
While speaking, Obi said there was a need to cut down on the cost of governance, and that has always been his position about governance.
He had tweeted: “Allegedly showing Mr President moving with about a 120-car convoy. While I have not had the opportunity of seeing the said video, my advice remains consistent – that sacrifices for a better Nigeria must start from the leaders at all levels of government.”
He later deleted the tweet and published a new one that substituted the ‘120-car convoy of ‘Mr President’ with ‘a trending motorcade video’.
Condemning his action, Bashir wrote: “That was so low. I honestly pity Peter, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party; so he no longer has control over himself or an opinion of himself.
“How can you delete a well-composed tweet calling your president Mr. President just because some people claiming to be your supporters bullied and dragged you?”
