Breaking: Hall leaves Chelsea after 12 years, signs permanent deal with Newcastle after loan spell

Newcastle United have announced the permanent signing of defender Lewis Hall from Chelsea after a successful loan spell.

The 19-year-old full-back has signed a long-term contract at St. James’ Park, having impressed in his 22 appearances for the Magpies during the 2023-24 season, where he scored twice.

Hall made his debut in Newcastle’s emphatic 8-0 win at Sheffield United in September 2023.

“I am extremely proud to be able to build on last season and continue my journey at Newcastle United,” Hall said.

“The fans, the manager, my teammates, and everyone at the club have made me feel so welcome that I want to repay the faith they’ve shown in me.

“Playing in front of the best supporters in the country is extra special for me being a Toon fan.

“I gained a lot of experience last season, and with the squad we have, we’ll be looking to push on even further this season. I can’t wait to get started,” he added.

Hall joined Chelsea Academy as an Under-8, growing through the ranks.

In the summer of 2021, he signed his first scholarship with the Blues. The following season, he established himself as a regular with the club’s under-18s, Under-21s and first-team recognition followed.

Hall came in as a substitute in the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Brentford in December 2021.

He made his full debut against Chesterfield in the FA Cup two weeks later.
