Blackburn Rovers boss delighted by Emmanuel Dennis’ debut performance

Blackburn Rovers head coach John Eustace has praised Emmanuel Dennis for showing promise in his debut despite their 2-0 loss to Wolves in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

Dennis, who joined Blackburn on a deadline-day loan from Nottingham Forest, was handed a starting role despite only a few training sessions with his new teammates.

The Nigerian forward played 66 minutes before making way for Cauley Woodrow.

The 26-year-old came closest to scoring for Blackburn just before halftime, forcing a near-post save from Wolves’ goalkeeper.

He finished the match with a team-high three shots, two key passes, and two completed dribbles.

Speaking to RoversTV, Eustace highlighted Dennis’ potential:

“I thought Emmanuel showed glimpses of what a good player he can be.

After nine months of inactivity at first-team level, Dennis’ return to competitive action is a boost for Blackburn as they prepare for upcoming Championship fixtures.

“That was the whole point of the exercise—to be competitive against a good team and also give players some vital minutes in their legs. We managed to get the balance right today,” Eustace added.

Dennis is now in contention to make his Championship debut for Blackburn on Wednesday night when they face West Brom at The Hawthorns.
