Bianca Ojukwu assures South Easterners Tinubu will release Nnamdi Kanu

The newly appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu has expressed her confidence that President Tinubu will ultimately set Nnamdi Kanu free.

She believes that the release of Kanu is crucial, as it would reveal the criminal elements that have been operating under the pretense of his detention in the South East region.

These individuals have been committing heinous crimes across the states in the South East geopolitical zone, and she feels that acknowledging Kanu’s freedom will help expose their activities and restore order in the region.

She gave the assurance while speaking during the 13th memorial anniversary of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in Owerri, on Tuesday.

Speaking on the theme, “Unifying the Igbo Race,” Bianca Ojukwu said that the reign of terror in the south east must stop as the people are not known for killing their brothers and that the people must collectively reclaim their land.

She stressed that the release of Nnamdi Kanu became Paramount in order to sperate real freedom fighters from criminals who have been causing mayhem in the Southeast, while the people face existential threat as a result of the violence .

She regretted that several years after the death of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, the south east has become a place of violence, insecurity as many people have fled their homes, with those in the diaspora afraid to return for fear of being kidnapped by their own people for ransom.

Bianca said, “Alaigbo has become a place of violence, insecurity, if you go to communities you will discover that they are empty. South East communities are suffering existential threat today. Kidnappers are kidnapping their own brothers for ransom. I had had to speak to the kidnappers who had kidnapped one of the persons who accompanied me to this event today.

“They said that they are fighting for Biafra and declared a sit-at-home and people who come out for their business are killed. Is this what Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu fought for?  People cannot go to their farms because of fear of being kidnapped or killed. Ndigbo are known to be enterprising, and their brothers keepers. We must collectively reclaim our land because our illustrious sons and daughters have all fled the communities and we must continue to propagate the ideals for which Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu stood for.”

“The release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has become impetative and President Tinubu understands the importance of his release to the Southeast because his release will help us know those criminals who are hiding under the IPOB to cause violence  in the Southeast, masquerading as freedom fighters. I will do whatever it takes to ensure that  His Excellency President Tinubu grant our request.”
