Barcelona’s Ilkay Gundogan tempted by lucrative three-year offer from middle east

Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is contemplating a three-year offer from Qatari side Al-Sadd, according to reports.

The 33-year-old German, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City last season, was their leading assist provider and most consistent performer in midfield last season.

Despite his contributions, Gundogan’s future at Barcelona is uncertain. He has one year left on his current contract, with an option for an additional year.

The offer from Al-Sadd promises a substantial financial package, which could be tempting for the veteran player, reports Esport3.

Football Espana suggests that new Barcelona manager Hansi Flick might be planning to reduce Gundogan’s role in the upcoming season.

The rationale is to increase the team’s intensity and potentially address the club’s salary cap issues.

Gundogan’s departure would ease the Catalan side financial constraints but would also leave a significant void in Barcelona’s midfield.
