Barcelona Vice-President keeps door open for Xavi after Napoli exit
Barcelona Vice-President Rafael Yuste has hinted at the possibility of Xavi Hernandez retaining his job after beating Napoli.
Despite Xavi’s earlier announcement of departing as Barca’s manager by the end of the season, Yuste suggests he could still have the position if he changes his mind.
The coache’s earlier decision to leave followed a run of disappointing results, including a defeat against Villarreal in January.
Although much has not improved since the announcement, the team recently secured a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-1 win over Napoli.
With the result, Yuste remained opened about Xavi’s potential reversal of his decision.
He said, “I respect his decision. He knows what I think, let’s see what happens. I really like Xavi Hernandez.”
Xavi himself has remained tight-lipped about his future, stating that he is focused on taking things step by step.
In the wake of Barcelona’s recent success, speculation about his potential continuation at the club has intensified.
Football Espana reports that Sporting Director Deco, also acknowledged that the club would consider the possibility of Xavi staying if he were open to reconsidering his decision.
