Barcelona president reveals move for Athletic Club’s Nico Williams
Barcelona President Joan Laporta has revealed the club’s intention to sign Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.
Laporta assured that Barcelona are financially capable to sign the Spanish winger, who has a €58m release clause.
Williams’ impressive performance for Athletic Club and his standout Euro 2024 run have made him a top priority for the Catalan side.
Initially Xavi Hernandez has been particularly insistent on signing the 21-year-old, and now, with support from Laporta and Deco, the club are ready to make the move for new boss Hansi Flick.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also reportedly keen on signing the player, and are prepared to double Williams’ salary.
However, Barcelona are offering a contract with a fixed salary that increases based on achievable objectives, such as the number of games played.
