Her love for music began when she was ten years old and was enrolled in a high school chorus. From that point on, she and her brother started writing songs together.

She began her career as a fashion model at the age of 16 with a well-known modelling agency named Quove Model Management.

After making the decision to devote more time and effort to developing her music career, Ayra Starr began to cover songs by well-known musicians like 2baba, Davido, Wizkid, and others.

Ayra Starr Early Life

She was raised in Lagos State after being born to Nigerian parents from Kwara State on June 14, 2002, in Cotonou, Benin.

Four siblings total—two brothers, Ade and Dami, and two sisters, Tolulope and Jesutunmise—make up this Afro-pop and R&B vocalist.

In 2018, her father passed away. Although her mother is still living, not much is known about her now. But on June 18, 2022, the musician shared a video of her mother congratulating her on Father’s Day.

Her musically inclined family gave her profession in music fantastic encouragement. Before entering the music profession, Ayra Starr began her career in the fashion industry at the age of 16 with Quove Model Management.

In December 2019, she shared her first original song on her Instagram profile. Prior to that, she frequently posts covers of famous musicians on her Instagram profile, including 2Face Idibia, Andra Day, and several others.

This led to the discovery of Ayra Starr by a large number of admirers and the interest of Don Jazzy, who signed her to his record company, Mavin Records.

“19 & Dangerous,” Ayra Starr’s debut studio album, was released on August 6, 2021. The debut album appeared on many charts, and one of its singles, “Bloody Samaritan,” spent a number of weeks in the Top 50.

Ayra Starr became the first female artist to make such history with a solo song after it peaked at number one.

Additionally, in 2021, Starr and Cheque worked together on the song “Dangerous,” which is the second track of his “Bravo” album.

She became the youngest African female artist to get over 100 million views on a single YouTube video with her song “Rush.”
