Atletico Madrid to extend Antoine Griezmann’s contract

Atletico Madrid are set to keep their partnership with star forward Antoine Griezmann, as plans for a contract extension are in motion.

Griezmann has been a vital addition to Diego Simeone’s squad, with the veteran forward playing a key role to the team’s impressive form this season.

Despite being 33 years old, Griezmann has been consistent, contributing to 29 goals in 41 games.

His current contract with Atletico extends until 2026, yet both the club and the player are ready to extend their partnership beyond the period.

However, Griezmann has before now expressed interest in the possibility of playing in America’s Major League Soccer, but his current form has been reckoned with, to continue to play in top European leagues.

Many also consider him to be one of the standout performers in La Liga over the past year, while Atletico believes a future contract is in the bag.
