Atletico Madrid are eyeing a summer move for Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
This comes as the Spanish giants look to strengthen their defensive midfield options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
With captain Koke Resurrección nearing the end of his career and Thomas Lemar expected to depart, Diego Simeone’s side are prioritizing reinforcements in midfield.
According to CaughtOffside, Ndidi has now been added to Atletico’s shortlist, which also includes Mallorca’s Samu Costa.
The Nigerian midfielder was linked with a move to Barcelona last summer before committing to a new deal at Leicester.
However, he is expected to leave the Premier League club in 2025, putting Atletico Madrid and other suitors on alert.
Real Betis have also expressed interest, as they anticipate selling Johnny Cardoso to Tottenham and are already searching for a replacement.
Meanwhile, AS Monaco reportedly had a £20m bid for Ndidi rejected in the winter window and could return with a fresh offer.
Despite Atletico’s admiration for the 27-year-old, a move could depend on Leicester’s asking price.
