Atalanta boss Gasperini confident despite Lookman absence for Barcelona clash

Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has downplayed the impact of Ademola Lookman’s absence ahead of their crucial Champions League clash against Barcelona.

Lookman, who has been a key figure in Atalanta’s attack this season, suffered an injury in training and will miss the trip to Spain.

Despite the setback, Gasperini assured that his team remains fully prepared.

“We are not going to play with 10 men,” Gasperini told Atalanta media when asked how he plans to cope without the Nigerian forward.

“Clearly, Lookman’s absence will be a pity both for us and for him as well,” he admitted. “These are top-tier games, and whenever you play in these kinds of matches, regardless of the outcome, they always give you something valuable and teach you lessons for the road ahead.”

Atalanta are aiming for a spot in the Champions League last 16 and will need a strong performance at the Camp Nou to secure their place.
